Meet Your One Woman Show Who Definitely Gets Great Expectations

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I cannot say I’m downright comfortable being picky and remain an honest woman. Even then, I’m not unsatisfied in that way, either. I just mention it here as an ear-catching little tidbit foreshadowing what I will shortly discuss honestly.

Last Monday I was walking the dog, Stacey, pondering about signing up for a Dallas Singles dating service. You prolly couldn’t guess that, I stand to the blogosphere as a happy member of the dating service. Seriously, I am. Its very comfortable and full of nice people! If you’ve been paying attention, you’re probably thinking, “You got some ’splainin to do, Lucy!”

Well, I noticed this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the honest singles who care enough to know dating should mean something.

‘Cause I’d never been interested in whatever it is that my friends and my family so aptly entitled “dating.” I heard it all the time. Each night they pester, “Are you seeing somebody?” and “You should date!”

“Ugh, and double ugh.” I say to them, smiling ear to ear. “Not after that last blind date you set me up on.”

“Don’t be silly,” they deadpan. “That’s just an excuse for your cynicism.”

Thankfully, that’s my partner in crime The One-And-Only :-P Patty Wilson. She sets reality directly to my core to set me straight. Loved ones are always there for fresh advice. Can’t argue with that, and I joined.

Returning to the meaning of this post. As I picked from more than three hundred combinations of outfits for my first date with Great Expectations, I realized something deep. For years, I hadn’t allowed myself too many figurative great expectations for dating in the fun-filled journey of being alive. It’s good to be single, even more so if you use the freedom to date. Embracing your own great expectations does wonders for a caring soul.
