Are You in Touch With Your Inner “M”?

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

“M” is for Motivation.

What motivates you to do a good job?

Is it a sense of achievement?

Recognition for a job well done?

Helping people?

Desire for responsibility?

Solving problems?

Making more money?

You should give some thought to what motivates you to do your job better and allows you to feel a real sense of job satisfaction. Motivation is one of those thought-provoking questions that some interviewers may ask you while you’re interviewing for a job. Be prepared to answer the question:

What motivates you?

Prepare for this challenging question in advance so you won’t ramble if asked. Having a motivated employee may be one of the qualities an interviewer wants to see during the interview, so think about the times you really felt enthusiastic and/or energized at work. What made you feel that way?

That’s your motivation.

Keys To Being Successful – Persistence

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

One of the keys to being successful in anything you do is persistence. Persistence & patience are two wheels. Whenever there is persistence; patience must be co-existed, else you will be like a bike in garage. Lets clarify the word ‘persistence’ :- It is ability to be persist on instances.

Once you have realized & determined exactly what it is you want to achieve, you must take Significant & considerate action using good plan on a consistent, persistent basis in direction to succeed. Think of it like building a muscle. If you have never exercised before, the first time you go to a gym, chances are you will not be able to bench press 100 lbs. However, if you are persistent, and you consistently go back to the gym, you will find yourself getting stronger and closer to your goal / objective with each and every visit.

One of the things you’ll observe on your way towards your goal, are speed-breakers. That is, you will encounter obstacles that seem to jump out of nowhere in an attempt to slow down your progress. Count on these obstacles. They are a part of life. Everyone would have every success they ever wanted if there were no obstacles. Your job is to be persistent and work through those obstacles. If you find little or no obstacles along the way, chances are you are not really challenging yourself coz person realizes his potential when he is on climax . And when you do reach your goal, you won’t experience the feeling of ’sweet success’. Make your goal a specialized & challenging one!

If you take the time to study any successful person, you will learn that the vast majority of them have had more ‘failures’ than they have had ’successes’. This is because successful people are persistent; the more they stumble and fall, the more they get right back up and get going again. On the other hand, people that don’t get back up and try again, never reach success. For example (1 & 2), 1] Colonel Sanders spent two years driving across the United States looking for restaurants to buy his chicken recipe. He was turned down near about thousand times! How successful is Fried Chicken today? 2] India got freedom because of the persistence & patience of great revolutionaries on their objective to make India free. Having said this, keep in mind that you must constantly reevaluate your circumstances and the approach you are using to reach your goal. There is no sense in being persistent at something that you are doing incorrectly! Sometimes you have to modify your approach along the way. Every time you do something you learn from it, and therefore find a better way to do it.

Create Your Destiny – How Massive Action Can Determine Your Destiny!

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

We often hear that “Knowledge is Power”. Is it really so? Knowledge that is not put to action remains just knowledge in your head. It is powerless and does not have any form of power at all. To accomplish results, we must couple our knowledge with the necessary action to attain results. From that, we derive this formula:

Knowledge Action = Result

That is the formula for achieving results. However when you added in the word ‘Massive’ into the equation, it had a tremendous impact in your life. It determines your Destiny!

Knowledge Massive Action = Massive Result ? Determines Destiny

Truly, when a person has taken massive action, it often requires him/her to step out of his comfort zone. However, a lot of people are not moving out of their comfort zone because of a basic, underlying fear for unknown or unforseen challenges, but this is inevitable! The beginning of every possible experience in life requires a first encounter. All of us learn through mistakes. When you made a mistake, you would normally say, “This doesn’t work,” or “I won’t do it again.” Mr. Mistake is a good teacher but that doesn’t mean you try to commit as many mistakes as possible. Minimize them and move on.

Whenever a mistake is made, it helps us to grow as a person. Till a point in time, when you have grown fully, you will be able to contribute to the society.

In conclusion, the fact in life is that whether you took action or you took inaction, there are consequences to be faced. If that is the case, why not take action to change your result? If you know that taking massive action can change your destiny, why purely take action when you can take MASSIVE action through immense courage?

Your 7 Day Program For Self-Improvement

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

“A Better You” Your 7 days program to self-improvement

I seem to lost count on how many times I’ve read and heard of celebrity marriages failing almost left and right. Not that I care (and personally I don’t), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

1. Know your purpose Are you wandering through life with little direction – hoping that you’ll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there’s always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

2. Know your values What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2005 – check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn’t align with any of your top five values – you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn’t discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it’s too late!

4. Know your passions You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it’s hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There’s sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

6. Honor your strengths What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit – your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn’t always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

Goal Setting & Attainment

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I am sure that many of you are deep into the drama and excitement of the holiday season. There is so much to be done and so much to think about and consider that many can hardly think of anything else. However, when the excitement is over, our attention typically turns the closing of one year and the beginning of a new one.

This is a time typically reserved for reflection. We think back on the previous year, sometimes with a strong sense of accomplishment and sometimes with regrets for the things we didn’t do that we wanted to and the goals we set but didn’t accomplish. Sometimes we get so disgusted with ourselves for our lack of goal-directed behavior that we actually stop setting goals altogether.

Sometimes we are waiting for something to happen first. We wait to retire, for our children to leave home, or for there to be enough money in the savings account. While we are waiting, time is whizzing past us at an alarming rate. Before we know it, we end up at a place where we say, “Now I’m too old to do ________________ .” While we are waiting for certain life events to manifest, there are things we can still do to move ourselves forward toward our goals. Waiting is not the only option.

There are known techniques that will help you improve the odds of accomplishing your goals. What’s the difference between those who seem to breeze through their day accomplishing everything they set out to do and those who seem to wonder where the time went at the end of the day. We all have the same amount of time each day. What’s the secret?

First of all, you need to decide what it is you want to accomplish—the more specific you can be the better. We generally do not get too excited about the vague thought of losing weight but if we can say instead, I will lose 10 pounds by March 1, 2006 so I can fit back into a size 10 dress then there is more energy and impetus around that particular goal.

Next, you must decide, as Napoleon Hill says, “Do you have a burning desire to accomplish this goal?” Without truly possessing a burning desire, without passion to make it happen, we will often drift back into old behaviors that keep us plateaued at the same place we were the beginning of last year.

Once you’ve determined you have the burning desire, next you must ask if you have a good plan. Does your plan have a reasonable chance for success? Do you have deadlines for accomplishment? When you are trying to stop a certain behavior, do you spell out what you are going to do instead? Are the goals realistic? Are they measurable? Do you have the determination and unwavering resolve to follow through on your plan?

Sometimes there are things that sabotage our efforts. Typically, the things we do throughout our day are things that meet our needs. If we are trying to lose weight but continue to eat instead, we need to look at what benefits we gain from overeating. Often these are unconscious benefits that we really need to do some serious scrutiny to uncover. If the benefits we receive from our current behavior outweigh the benefits of making the change we desire, we will have a difficult time making the change without building in additional features to our plan that will make up for the benefits of the behavior we are giving up.

You need to develop systems to track and measure your progress. Many people require a visual representation of their progress to provide incentive to continue moving forward. You must develop a single-minded focus. You must avoid anything that threatens to pull you off your straight ahead direction toward your goals. You must prioritize and protect your time everyday.

The final thing that will be instrumental in achieving your goals in 2006 is to reprogram your nonconscious mind. There is a great deal of evidence that shows the neural programming of our nonconscious mind often gets in the way of us accomplishing our goals. These are the early messages that we picked up from those who were close to us when we were younger. We received messages that money was the root of all evil, that we didn’t deserve to be loved, that we were chubby and will stay that way, and that there is never enough time in a day. All those messages have formed neural pathways in our brain.

This means that when certain neurons fire, they trigger the firing of other neurons in the same pathway, which makes it extremely difficult to consciously change our behavior. The good news is that there is a way to reprogram the neural pathways so they will work for us instead of against us to accomplish our goals.

Through the processes of affirmations and visualization we have the ability to change this nonconscious programming. We must develop a mental movie of what life will look like once our goals are accomplished. Then, we must write out present tense affirmations of the belief systems we must have in place in order to accomplish our goals. If weight loss is your goal, for example, then your affirmations would sound like this: “I weigh 130 pounds and look and feel terrific. I eat only healthy food that nourishes my body. I enjoy exercising and the way my body feels while doing it and afterwards. I drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water each day.”

Reprogramming requires repetition of the affirmations and visualization daily and more often if you can make the time. With this added to all of the above goal setting steps, you will be well on your way to accomplishing your goals in 2006.

Love is…

LOVE IS… By Karen A. Lech

Love, what a trip! The emotion that grabs us by the heart and takes us on a roller coaster through life or some period of time. Love makes us senseless, smile more, foolish, starry-eyed, happy to the point of bursting, and can make us cry enough to fill a new ocean. During a conversation recently with a friend of mine, we talked of a woman he heard tell of locally who was having a bad time of it. It seems she and a significant other purchased a beautiful home, which in the area where he lives, is very expensive. The woman and her significant other had been together two years and she discovered he had a problem with gambling, hence was working three jobs to pay the rent, or mortgage, whatever. Evidently, she came from quite a wealthy background and owned a home elsewhere in that province, and had quite an inheritance. My friend was appalled at this, and felt logically she could live very comfortably… why was she doing this? At first, hearing these sketchy details, I thought, wow, why is she doing all this if she really does have such a “financially comfortable” background? It just seemed kind of odd, and with my own financial difficulties, I sympathized to some extent at that moment… until it hit me. There was a reason for her activities, not just financial loss, not just paying the rent…it was LOVE. Probably not just love for the gorgeous house, more likely love for her man.

Love can make you do things you would never normally do or logically do. Love is… -accepting those you love despite their faults. -a totally ILLOGICAL and unpredictable grip and trip of your strongest emotions. -going to many or any lengths for another, for the ones you love. Sometimes it hurts and takes spending time, which in these days, people seem to have so little of. -getting a phone call at 10:30 p.m. from a neighbor who says she thinks her appendix burst and taking her to hospital and staying with her through surgery until 2 a.m., even though you have work the next day. – not justifying the time you spend with someone for a mini vacation so you can put the trip on your expense account and do some business while you’re there. – holding the hand of a bereaved friend – selling your house so you can use the equity to help your kids get a start, a much needed vehicle. – wanting to be with your loved one as much as possible – so many other things that I could use a forest of trees’ worth of paper to keep on going – the warmest feeling you will ever know.

To quote a favorite song of mine, the lyrics of which make a lot of sense to me, anyway…

“When somebody loves you, it’s no good unless they love you… all the way. through the good and lean years and for all the in between years…”

Love. .. A rocket ship trip to the moon and stars, a dream come true, sharing and shattering, caring to the fullest extent, putting self on the back burner, and the greatest gift you can give and receive.

Thanks for reading!

The problems with epic treadmills

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Epic treadmills have long been on the market and have a large customer base. They can boast a wide rage of features which some people seem to think has taken place over quality. Epic treadmills can now be seen in Costco, where previously Epic treadmills where sold by Icon, a $1 billion company that has substantial resources to develop Epic treadmills and ensure that their design and credibility where taken into account. Some people have labelled Epic treadmills as nothing more than a glorified toy, this being because of the lack of stability within the product. The feel of the epic treadmill when you use it is not as solid as it could be and dose not feel as cushioned as some other products of the market do.

Epic treadmills are also at a disadvantage with being previously sold by Icon. Although Icon is recognised for producing some interesting treadmills, they have been unable to establish a sound reputation. They are known in the market as supplying poor customer service and support, and this has unfortunately been forwarded onto the reputation of the epic treadmill. Another poor marketing ploy for epic treadmills has been that large merchants such as Costco are wrapping up their sale of epic treadmills combined with a television. This dose not support the belief that you are buying a sold, quality treadmill, but instead leads you to believe that you are purchasing something armature. If you are a seasoned athlete and in the market for a treadmill epic treadmills may not be the best buy for you. It is always advisable to research the market beforehand and ensure that you review all products and not just the epic treadmills range.

Internet betting webpages are at present modulated through 3 councils. They are OSGA (the Offshore Gaming Association), IGC (Interactive Gaming Council) and finally the Fidelity Trust Gaming Association (the FTGA). After wreck, Hunter leads Angels to win

Europe’s Top Skiing Resorts May Battle Due to the Increased Price of Electricity

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Some have predicted that the European Alp’s top 670 ski domains may be abridged to 410 by 2045. Novella Marcelo announced that the holiday industry will notice the pain prior to that date, not from a want of snowfall simply due to a general reduction in purchasing might associated with the rising price of crude oil. So what about rising temperatures? Scientists have demonstrated that a doubling of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere shall raise floor temperatures by 4 to 7 degrees Celsius. All the same there remain some open queries. The acceleration of climate change and the results on the mountains climate. Several degrees Celsius heating last century hasn’t been seen in the last 1000000 years. Even during the ending of the ice-age 17000 yrs ago the warming of four degrees was over a period of six to 9 thousand yrs. Earlier than that Val Thorens and Les Menuires were under ice and La Chavanette would have been as cold as the Arctic.

So what does the future hold for mid height ski fields domains? Fuel squeezes will commence to be keenly felt by 2014 to 18, leading to increased costs for ski accommodation, ski transfer businesses and skiing lift firms alike – so it may well be the end of weekend ski deals. The majority of our economy depends upon crude oil and France buys 80 %. The present total is 4 percent of GDP. However if the price of crude grows as expected it’ll comprise 41 % of GDP, you can guess the down turn. The European Alps will witness the cost of agrarian goods rising, flora species will change thanks to a change in rain patterns. Locals will depart the area due to the summertime stifling heat. Hydro power will be a valuable resource but it is not obvious whether it will be a bonus because there will be a lot less snowfall, a lot more water in the winter and less in the summer.

What is Happiness?

Friday, February 13th, 2009

What is happiness? If we mean by it a state of fulfillment, when everything is going our way, in terms of results as well as efforts (which requires a providential combination of pluck and luck), then it cannot simply be willed; it is partly, if not largely, a gift of fate.

Having said this, even this sort of happiness is a product of positive thinking and positive action, with good fortune lending a helping hand. In short, it is a product of will in relatively favorable circumstances. But isn’t it peculiar to imply that happiness can be of one sort or another? Are there not simply happiness and unhappiness? I think not. The sort of happiness that the sage talks about is compatible with misfortune. It is preeminently a doing from within – while without, the only prerequisite for it is that the sage be alive and capable of thought. It is a feeling of serenity, of being at peace with his situation and his conscience, as a well-adjusted and fully committed servant of life, of humanity, of God as he sees them.

However conscious he is of the subjectiveness – i.e., the individual limitations and hence the imperfection – of his view, he does live by it with utmost faithfulness, if also with a willingness to reevaluate it critically when he catches himself out in a misstep. His wisdom is forever a work in progress; it is always laced with some form of foolishness, which leaves him open to ridicule. Humility and compassion, plus humor are therefore qualities that he cultivates. He mocks and forgives himself, and above all strives to improve. He shows no complacency, but an acceptance of his humanness that he is intent on bringing to the highest possible degree of truth and nobility. And this delicate blend of resignation and struggle alone – in any situation, favorable or not – is indeed the secret of his happiness, which admittedly is a dry manner of joy that fills the mind rather than the heart.

It follows that this happiness leaves something to be desired: happiness in the fullest sense of the word (a state of fulfillment, when everything is going our way, in terms of results as well as efforts), which is a joy, ever so sweet, that fills both the mind and the heart. When the sage experiences this supreme happiness, he rightly feels blessed, and knows how precarious it is. Furthermore, he accepts this precariousness, or the fact that suffering and ultimately death loom ahead. Only battles are won in the war of life that will inevitably – despite every valiant effort to prevail – end in defeat.

Some will say that happiness in its so-called fullest sense leaves something more to be desired: the power to make this happiness infinite: immeasurably great and unlimited in duration. Among them, some will choose the path of faith, which allegedly leads to a heavenly afterlife, whereas some will choose the path of reason, which admits of no rosy belief based on wishful thinking and unbridled trust. This path leads nowhere as far as the beyond is concerned, or rather somewhere that is unknown – presumably so different from what is known that it totally exceeds our ability to conceive of its nature.

I count among these proponents of reason, these infidels, to whom the only source of meaning is not a paradisiacal destination, whose existence is supported by no credible evidence, but the journey itself, a rugged and uphill journey to be sure, with an abundance of twists and turns, some of which are propitious, others not. This journey is well worth the trouble, in my opinion. It is so independently of the above-mentioned destination, which people are free to pursue blindly or regard with skepticism (and with detachment to boot, in the best case scenario). It is all about the dignity of living and loving and the pleasure of succeeding in these difficult assignments. From this perspective, the purpose of life is none other than life itself, in partnership with our fellow creatures; and happiness is made possible – within certain limits – by our striving to achieve this worthy, albeit humble purpose.

The limits imposed upon worldly happiness may initially stick in our craw, but after due consideration, as we realize that life without these limits would be death, we accept them, and better still we welcome them. Life is by definition a dynamic state that presupposes a perpetual tension between desires and their satisfaction. Render this satisfaction absolute, you resolve this tension and consequently reduce life to nothing; i.e., something as inert as a stone. And this nothing – this inert something – is death, as I just pointed out. Not a brilliant prospect in the eyes of a life lover!
